Springfield BBQ Team to compete on new Travel Channel Show

Locals compete for $10,000 prize

Springfield, MO, May 7, 2015: Four Springfield men comprising the BBQ team called the "Buckingham's Pig Kings" will be appearing on the new Travel Channel series, "Grill of Victory" to air on Saturday, May 23rd at 1:00 pm.

The show is hosted by well known food expert and restaurateur, Kevin Roberts aka "The Food Dude".

The Travel Channel describes the show this way;

"Three teams face off with their home made mega-grills to prove they have the best BBQ skills in the state of Missouri. The team with the baddest rig, the tastiest food, and the best backyard barbecue will take home the grand prize of $10,000. Here's the twist- the teams judge each other! Each team cooks two meats and two side dishes, but everyone must use...St. Louis Cut Ribs! Up first is Engine 51 Smokers, a group of Firefighters riding into the competition on a 38 foot long gooseneck trailer that's been decked out with emergency lights and sirens. They're followed by Twisted Belly, who uses their Red, White and Blue party wagon to throw down the ultimate tailgate. Finally, Buckingham Pig Kings, a team of expert restaurateurs, are ready to play the competition off with their giant grand piano themed rig. With only six hours to cook these three teams and their monster grills will battle high flames, the clock, and each other for the chance to win The Grill of Victory."

The team was created by local, legendary BBQ restaurant owner David Campbell who founded Buckingham's Smokehouse BBQ in 1996. Joining David in the TV competition was his brother Darryl, his business partner and owner of several Buckingham's outlets, Cameron Roy as well as well known local chef James Clary.

The show, produced by Jane Street Entertainment of New York, NY and was filmed on various St Louis locations. The production also came to Springfield and shot footage of the teamís rig being built as well as filming several Springfield landmarks including Bass Pro Shop.

The Pig Kings team and the incredible rig they built for the show will be at the Ozark's Buckingham's between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm the day of the show. The general public is encouraged to join the team watching the show and see the "smoker turned Baby Grand Piano" up close and personal on the 23rd.
